Silfra - Thingvellir - Gullfoss - Geysir
Get ready for a sublime day in the heart of Iceland! We will pick you up in Reykjavík and drive the scenic route of the must-see Golden Circle. You will visit the beautiful National Park Thingvellir, the active geothermal area of Geysir, and Gullfoss, one of the most beautiful and powerful waterfalls in Iceland. All of these sights are a magnificent display of the power and beauty of nature and shouldn’t be missed by any visitor in Iceland.
At Thingvellir lake you will snorkel through the famous Silfra fissure. A snorkeling adventure in the famous Silfra fissure is an unforgettable experience, there is a reason TripAdvisor chose our Snorkeling Tour the No 4 experience in the world!
We can proudly state that DIVE.IS will offer you the best service level at Silfra. Let us tell you why:
- We have an extra person at Silfra assisting you before and after the snorkelling experience. We call this person Surface Support and they make sure your tour runs smoothly. They also provide extra safety for you and the guides.
- We built our own changing room so that our guests have the opportunity to dress up inside a heated changing van.
- After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies.
- Our guides are all experienced PADI divemasters and instructors that have been through professional training before running any of our tours.
Let us tell you a little about the tour! You will be picked up at your hotel in Reykjavik by our trusted partners. This Golden Circle bus tour is guaranteed as a small group experience and your tour guides will be local experts, with great knowledge about the area and able to take questions due to the small size of the group.
You will visit all the sights on the Golden Circle, the most popular ones being the highly active Geysir geothermal area and the Gullfoss waterfall. Other sights include the Kerið crater and the Hveragerði village.
When you get to the Thingvellir national park, the driver will leave you at the beautiful viewpoint Hakið where the view is amazing. You will then have the opportunity to take a walk in the historic Thingvellir national park, all the way to Silfra where your diving adventure takes place. The walk is about 20 minutes but you should have more time to explore. You will be provided with a handy map of the area.
Silfra is a crack in the earth that has been ripped open by the movement of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Glacial water that has been filtered underground for decades fills this fissure with crystal clear water, creating an underwater world unlike anywhere else on earth. The underwater visibility is over 100 meters, making it one of the clearest bodies of water on earth. You will see all of the majestic parts of Silfra: Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral and Silfra Lagoon.
After a day full of action and sightseeing we will drive back to Reykjavik to close the Golden Circle and you will surely have no problem dozing off in our comfortable vans.
If you want to share the experience with your friends or family who are scuba divers, you can combine this tour with divers. You are also able to go on this tour with non-water participants. Just add to cart and finish all the bookings together when ready.
Our Souvenirs can be purchased in your booking process by selecting them under "Extras". If the Souvenir you are looking for is not listed below please contact us or leave a comment in your booking and we will bring it on tour with us.
Snorkeling & Golden Circle Tour with Fraser!!
This excursion was the highlight of our trip to Iceland!! Fraser was our snorkeling and tour guide - he was incredible. Fraser made sure we were all properly prepared for snorkeling and ensured we all had an amazing experience. After snorkeling in the morning, we continued on to the Golden Circle. Fraser made sure we hit all of the important stops along the way, but also gave us options to make sure we saw everything we wanted to. We were fortunate to have a small group (4) which really made the entire day feel like a private tour. Many thanks for Fraser for an unbelievable experience in Iceland!!!

Frequently asked questions about our Snorkeling Silfra & Golden Circle Combo Tour
Are there any Souvenirs available?
Yes, we offer a variety of Souvenirs of Silfra and DIVE.IS including photo packages, t-shirts, jumpers, hoddies, hats , logbooks, postcards and stickers. Please have a look at our Souvenir page for more detailed information. If you want to buy souvenirs at Silfra, just ask the guide for information.
Are there toilet and changing facilities available at Silfra?
Yes, there are toilet facilities at Silfra. However we kindly ask you to not use them for changing, as there are only 2 toilets at Silfra and it can cause long queues to form. We do have a changing room vehicle, and often several other cars at Silfra for participants to change clothes in. Due to this layout, we highly recommend that participants arrive at Silfra already wearing their thermal base layer.
Do I need to be able to swim in order to take part in Snorkeling?
Even though the dry suits are very buoyant and keep you afloat, it is a requirement that all participants must be able to swim and feel comfortable in water to join the tour. This is for your own safety and comfort. You do however not need to be a very strong swimmer, merely able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
When do we dive/snorkel on the Golden Circle Tour?
We only offer the Golden Circle tour in the Spring and in the Summer, from April to September. The tour is combined with the 5:00pm snorkeling and diving tours, so you will be at Silfra at the end of the day.
