The Instructor Development Course with DIVE.IS

Already completed your PADI Divemaster and looking for the next step? Or perhaps already an Instructor with another agency, but looking to switch, or expand your qualifications. Either way the Instructor Development Course is the first step to becoming a PADI Open Water Instructor, and where better to do that than with Iceland’s top 5 Star IDC Development Centre,

We offer two IDCs a year, one in spring and one in autumn and on both courses there is the opportunity, for the right candidates*, to work, either before or after the IDC as part of our dynamic guiding team, allowing you to work off the costs of the IDC as well as earn money and a chance to spend several months exploring this fantastic country and it’s unique dive sites.

You can get started on your IDC as soon as you sign up, as a large section of the theory is now available on PADI eLearning. IDC Online allows you to take your Knowledge Development sessions at your own speed. You will cover topics such as Business Principles, Teaching Children and Risk Management.

The IDC itself is an intensive course designed to teach you how to teach. It is broken down into bite-sized sections and will build on the topics learnt in the online section, and includes demonstration Theory, Confined and Open Water lessons. You will also have pool sessions for skill circuits, a rescue scenario and various exams to sit.

The best part of the IDC however is the hands on practical experience of preparing and teaching your own Knowledge Development, Confined and Open Water lessons. You will gain experience in each of the core courses, both by preparing your own presentations and learning from your fellow Instructor Candidates. Each presentation is marked by your Instructors and detailed feedback is given to build a momentum of constant improvement.

The course requires dedication and commitment, but is also lots of fun and upon completion will allow you to introduce people to the underwater world that has clearly captured you in its spell!

*Currently the opportunity to join the team is only available to EEC passport holders, due to the nature of work requirements and visa’s here in Iceland.  As you will be fully employed by, there is also an application and interview process. If you are successful, you will be an integral part of the team, working on a full-time basis as both a snorkel and dive guide, as well as assisting on courses. Our team consists of many highly qualified professionals, offering you the chance to learn from the best.
