Become a PADI Professional

The Divemaster program with DIVE.IS is a rewarding and challenging role, which will leave you a highly skilled dive guide and certified assistant. Graduating from the DIVE.IS PADI Divemaster program will put you in very good standing to pursue your diving career. We also offer the possibility of ongoing employment for particularly strong candidates.

The conditions in Iceland can be harsh and the water cold, nevertheless we deliver an incredibly high standard of dive experience and we have an awesome time doing it.

The divemaster program consists of a number of sections to be completed, these include knowledge development, skills workshops and development and practical assessments.

Knowledge development will take the form of a mixture of autonomous study and theory sessions with your certifying instructor and will culminate with a two part written exam.

The skills workshop will take place in the pool and the ocean, with your certifying instructor. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate skills to students as you assist on courses. You will be marked on a complete circuit of skills as well as swimming tests and other exercises.

The practical assessments include everything from presentation and professionalism, to conducting your own dive tours. It will be the practical assessments that make up the bulk of your time with us as you work day to day receiving on the job training from a number of highly qualified instructors.

Upon being accepted into the DM internship you will be very much part of the team. You will be assigned to a certifying instructor and they will conduct periodic theory sessions with you as well as skills workshops and weekly performance reviews. The internship is designed to leave you with a great deal of experience and confidence in your ability and as such is an internationally recognized and highly regarded qualification.

Union Grants and Other Benefits 

Most unions in Iceland subsidize a part of the course fee for their members.  We encourage you to find out your rights within your union.

If you are a high school or university student, the course may provide a certain number of credits that you can use towards your degree.

Course Details

Availability:
  • All year round.
  • Start dates are upon request depending on availability.
Prerequisites:

Prior to beginning participants must:

  • Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent
  • 18 years old
  • Logged 40 scuba dives
  • Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months or hold an equivalent valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months
  • You must not be afraid of a hard days work.
Duration:
  • 3 months internship
Min / Max:
  • 2-4 participants depending on time of year.
Please bring:
  • Personal Dive Equipment – you are required to have a complete set of cold water dive gear (excluding weights and tanks). You can purchase anything you may need upon arrival as mentioned below.

  • All tuition, Knowledge Development Sessions, Skills Workshops and Practicum as well as unlimited diving!
